Fax online

Does your library not provide a faxing service? Does the patron not wish to travel to the nearest FAX location? Does the patron not wish to pay the faxing fee?

FaxZero may be your solution.

FaxZero is a service that provides free or low-cost faxing done online.

Users simply provide their own name and email address and the name of the company and the FAX number they are sending the document to. Then the user simply attaches the document they wish to fax. Documents are accepted in .DOC, .DOCX, or .PDF formats. Users can also input text to fax if they wish.

FaxZero provides two options: Free Fax and Almost Free Fax. Free Fax places an ad on the cover sheet, has a maximum of 3 pages (excluding cover sheet) and has a maximum of 5 faxes sent per day.

Almost Free Fax has $1.99 charge per fax which is payable via Paypal, has a maximum of 15 pages with an optional cover sheet and has no ad on the cover page.

I have not tried this service yet myself but I think it would be a good alternative to conventional faxing. For those who have tried this service or received a FAX this way, what did you think? Was it easy to use? Were Faxes received promptly?
